Not sure about the HDD's, but you will also need a keyboard and most likely a mouse as well to play.

Get the latest expansions and start playing, I've come to appreciate the game, even though it's unfortunately very slow and doesn't really start getting interesting until you reach Rank 3, around level 18-20. And even then, it gets TRULY interesting only first when you can get Advanced Jobs at around Level 30.

I used to play, but not anymore. Will start again once I get my new computer. I play in Fenrir and in Carbuncle. Leviathan isn't a very good server. Carbuncle is great.

I have a Mithra in Fenrir. It's a Warrior at Level 15 or 16. I love how you can keep toying around with classes a lot. What I really want is to play with Taru-Taru, I love them!

Tell you what. If you ever decide to start playing in the future, I'll try helping out if I can! Or start playing with you, or something One thing FFXI has that is a BIG plus is really great music. I love listening to overworld themes like Saruta Baruta and Ronfaure.

does ANYONE know if I can just shuve in a hard drive and play? If so I can get this game since Hard drives are only like $45 on ebay....instead of the $100 box

I just hate the fact that you have to party to EXP all the time, uuughh it's annoying and boring and sooooo repetitive...

I already had an FFXI topic XD but oh well I shall post my questions here!.

1. Can I just get an HDD offa ebay and shuve it in? XD or do I need an install disc? (ps2)

2. is Carbuncle a good server for finding parties?

My topic was conceived before yours :P And to answer your questions

1) I don't think you can put a HDD in a PS2. And sales for FFXI on the PS2 have been discontinued so I woul not recommend using this for playing the game. Either use an X-BOX 360 or a PC to play the game. You'll get access to Wings of the Goddess expansion as well, and you'll want it, most likely ^_^

2) I can't answer this right away, it would help if you could say how you want to play FFXI? Are you in it for roleplaying, or the story, the community or questing/grinding? You can of course be in it for more than 1 reason, but what style is most prominent to you?

I won't be able to play FFXI until after this summer, unfortunately. What race and job are you playing? Where did you start?

FFXI can be played only online and with XBOX 360 or PC only. Also comes with a monthly fee. ^^
