that could be true...
but that's not why the XBOX sucks...

They bet all their money on the head-start they'd get by releasing it a year before all the competition, and they didn't put all the testing into the system they should have... as is present given the failure rate, when compared to the other two Next-Gen systems..

amen to that.

xbox doesn't appeal to me in any way because i don't like the games that are made for it. i've heard that it has a lot of problems too. like overheating?

*shrug* never owned one. never will.

The only good thing the Xbox had going for it last gen, was that when it came to sports games it had the edge over the PS2, it had a newer graphics chip which enabled it to have bette graphics, and allowed the game to perform better. (even though the PS2 sold better)

this generation.... they're weak... not that I liked them before... jsut saying..

Practically. Like we Americans crave pure American things. It's not really a big deal. I mean, it's just a gaming console. :/

This.

The original Xbox didn`t have the type of games to appeal to the Japanese market... So there is no real expectation that the 360 will have them either. And at this point, Microsoft is marketing the 360 as what it is in the US - a console known for FPS. The thing is, FPS don`t really appeal to the Japanese market. Even if it`s a great game, in general people in Japan don`t really like western(?) character designs. It`s hard to make a system look appealing when you`re bragging about it being great for something someone doesn`t have all that much interest in to begin with.

The PS3 also doesn`t have much out that appeals to normal Japanese gamers. Sure, MGS came out, but other than that the selection is very slim. However, people who enjoyed the PS2 have the expectation that good games will eventually come out on the PS3 too.

It`s silly to say it`s simply because Japan doesn`t like to buy things not made in Japan, or that there is a prejudice against the system, etc...

The biggest problem is this - The system barely sells, but those it does sell are sold largely to people who enjoy the type of games popular on the 360 in the US (FPS, Racing, etc) -> Microsoft misreads this, and pushes those games -> The same niche market becomes even stronger fans, so those who aren`t part of the niche market come to see the 360 as something ONLY for those people -> Stronger fans in the niche market buy more games that don`t appeal to a wider Japanese audience -> Again, more marketing focusing on the type of games that ARE selling -> Repeat endlessly.

They need to find some way to escape that circle. Hopefully Tales can help to some extent, as Blue Dragon was seriously botched... And Trusty Bell + Lost Odyssey didn`t have the power to fix that.

I heard, lately, it's slowly becoming more popular in Japan.

I prefer Xbox(Microsoft) over Nintendo and Sony.
Nintendo doesn't have enough mature games; Sony (PS) - at least, while PS2 is involved - has a lot of games... But (a) their controllers are ugly and can really slow down gameplay, and (b) their consoles are very fragile; they break easily... And not just internally, but externally, they are less durable than an Xbox; Therefore, Xbox wins.

your right about nintendo games, but your smoking crack if you really think PS breaks easily lol.

ill take the 0.2% failrute rate over the 36% FR anyday thanks (thats internally) i duno about externally.

but RROD can occure if your 360 gets knocked over and it rips up the disc. they should of made the X360 box just a giant red caution sign.

DO NOT TOUCH AT ALL, MAY CAUSE RROD. lol

lol, dude, microsoft replace the consoles anyway, so what's the problem? If you really wanna talk about the FR's, then why not mention PS2? That had a disgusting rate of failures, but that never stopped it from being one of the best games consoles ever
