Most annoying games ever - 05-17-2009, 01:12 AM

Some games just test your patience until you say "stop, please no more" and you have to try hard to not destroy your controller and not throw the game through your window.

It happened to me a lot of times, but I was able to hold my anger and finish them properly.

Here’s my list:

Dirge of Cerberus: the Extra Missions were extremely annoying, especially the ones with Cait Sith, find the memory capsules was wild, EX Hard Mode was annoying too, but became easy after I got the best weapons.

FFXII: it was wild in some dungeons like Great Crystal, when searching for Ultima and Omega Mark XII, and Henne Mines, when searching for Zodiark. Penumbra at Pharos was something too, and Yiazmat tested my patience for 4 hours or so, if a boss takes this long to be defeated, what can I say? Annoying! But looking back it wasn’t that tough, just annoying…

Star Ocean the Second Story: this one really sucks most of time, especially because you have to rely on the AI too much and it’s completely stupid. I lost how many times I found my characters running around the battlefield doing nothing…

Anyway, if you feel like you want to kill the game’s developers or break the game’s disk into pieces, post here and share with us your anger.

Half Life 2: Not so much "annoying", but more "expecting the player to know how to pass areas never seen before". Episode 1 and 2 are the biggest offenders.

Episode 1 was the small courtyard that had Combine troops, two antlion spawn points, and an antlion guard the size of a double-decker bus. The Combine shoot at the antlions and you. The antlions attack you and the Combine, and continually spawn. The antlion guard uses you as a chew toy. What a massive clusterbleep.

Episode 2, base defense. The part where you have to keep the huge Striders away from the base with nothing more than a jeep, sticky bombs, and a smile. Oh, and you have to know exactly where the striders spawn in, the best way to get to them, and how to exactly target them with the sticky bombs. Most of my enjoyment fell apart like the building you start at, along with the bomb spawning point. It's great that you know how to make buildings blow up, Valve. Mind doing it in a way that doesn't make the player feel like a guy whose cat mistook his cereal bowl for a litterbox?

Fortunately, there is one woman in this world who can control me.

Unfortunately for you, she is not here.

Say what you want, but you can't break free
Say what you will, but you can't change me
Say what you want, but it all takes time...
And my love will know no end....
How I miss my beautiful friend.

From the sky, To the ground
Rain is falling all around
Thunder rain and wind
A song of storms begins

Play a song, A melody
Then everybody will see
The hero of time
Has come

Protector - flash based game gets extremely repetitive. Contra, if you didn't use the cheat codes you had to start from the very beginning...talk about repetitive.

Resident Evil when you run out of ammo... and need to sprint like hell away. And in games you can't run in / jump freely...

This. Got so frustrated in ep. 2. Striders = 50/ Me =1.

I read this thread a while ago and didn't really have a game in mind...

But I just recently played the demo for "Operation Darkness", and I have to say, it's a devil of a game. It's surprisingly tough in some areas, and easy to lose a main character near the end of a fight, causing you to start all over again. And being a turn-based strategy game, starting all over again is a BIG deal.

One particular scenario had me up against a group of German soldiers and 2 tanks, a Panzer IV Infantry Support Tank and Panther Tank. It took me about 20 minutes to pick off the German soldiers, and by the time the tanks started blasting away at my position, I was already low on supplies.

I managed to last about another 20 minutes, throwing out all I had...
... Until my main character got caught in the open and flattened in a second.

c'est la vie~

Final Fantasy 3, I mean gosh, every 4 steps theres a freakin monster that would pop and they're the kind of monsters that can kill you in one hit.
