Japanese Console + English Game

What is the best option to play English games on my Japanese console here in Japan...PS2" that is.

Also are there any other suggestions, such as different consoles?

Japanese PS2 Consoles aren't compatiable with English PS2, cause my Japanese PS2 can't play any english games, but my other PS2 from canada can....

Aparently the GBA i got from Japan is compatiable with english games, e.g. North American Pokemon Gold etc. So yes

Well I just bought a brand new ps2 here in Japan it is the 77000cw it plays dvd-r ect. But It won't play my canadian dvds But I want to play games in English sometimes. Sports games and stu ff are ine in Japanese but its crazy difficult to play games like dragon quest ect. in Japanese

yea they aren't compatiable, cause for ps2 they have zone games, eg. some japanese ps2 games like super robot wars taissen says "only for japan" i tested it on my canadian ps2 and it won't load.

Why don't you guys get a modchip? I'm sure they are cheap in japan

If you don't want that, You can use special software that will let you play backup games (Keep it legal) , and DVD's from any region
