Really want to learn Japanese! - 01-10-2008, 05:08 AM

I don't know Japanese at all so I don't know if I'd be much of a help with English but I really want to learn Japanese!

one way to get started would be to watch a ton of anime and japanese related stuff. i dont wanna say i know japanese or anything, but my friend who is taking japanese says i know quite a bit.

just basically put two and two together. espcially if they use the word a lot.
and buy a japanese-english dictionary. WILL come in handy.

....and then there's always taking classes.

you wanna know how bad the movie is?

picture titanic....with no boat.

No one can learn Japanese properly by just watching anime. If you are still a student, try and take a class...or apply to college that teaches Japanese. Look for exchange programs you could apply to.

If those ideas aren't possible, pick up a text book that teaches both words, grammar and writing. It's best if you can find some pronuniciation help (anime might help there) but a teacher/tutor is best.

That's exactly what I was going to say right before I accidentally exited out of my browser. ><

But I agree totally. While subbed anime can be supplemental as far as vocabulary and pronunciation, I think that having a teacher (if possible) or at least a series of books like Nakama would be much more effective.
