I'm learning Japanese as well, and I seem to be having a lot of troubles with things. Since I am not able to use it, I am getting things mixed up and forgetting others. If you'd like to work together, maybe to get some speaking experience, feel free to message me and I'll give you my email.

When I was in high school I had to learn French for five years and left school only knowing a few words and now I don't remember anything of the language. In my opinion, classes are not really the best way of learning another language but it depends on how good the teacher is. I tried text books when I decided to self study Japanese about two years ago and some have helped. I bought Rosetta Stone for Japanese a year ago, very expensive but worth it. I like how it works and it's a fun way of learning a language. A fast way to learn Japanese is to immerse as much as you can.

It's up to you what methods you use to learn Japanese, whatever is easiest and effective.

it's hard to learn a new language..
the real problem is when you forgotten words that you learn before..
I prefer writing down new words and try using it whenever I get a chance..
the thing is, english is not my native language and I'm still learning Japanese at the same time..
so, learning both language really a pain in the ***
luckily, I somehow managed to do it though by communicating a lot with my peers..

my point is, try to communicate as much as you can with the native..
it really helps.. a lot!
