I've heard from alot of people that Japan's Train lines is a friggin pain in the arse. As in its complicated and theres whole lot of them jumbled around tokyo. How hard is it for a complete noob like me who has never been to japan to move about with this mean of transportation?

It's easy if you use a fare/route finder like Welcome to Jorudan Co.,Ltd.. Without this, even if you are Japanese, taking a new route without planning ahead is a bit difficult. I think getting around Tokyo is actually a lot easier than outside of Tokyo. Out in the countryside you don't exactly have huge maps posted in English in the stations like many do in Tokyo. Overall though I would say that some people are born to travel and have a natural ability to find there way whereas some are just completely hopeless no matter the tools available.

One of the biggest things I hated about Tokyo were the trains. Tokyo`s train lines *are* a big pain. You have to change trains a lot, often walking outside for a while between stations, etc.

I`ve been all over Japan, and really have never encountered anything as frustrating as the *Tokyo* train system. It seems like they`d try to consolidate it or something.

If anyone is trying to find me… Tamyuun on Instagram is probably the easiest.

I traveled all over Japan by train, it wasn't too hard at all. Personally, I thought it was much easier to navigate the trains outside of big cities like Tokyo because there's usually only one or 2 lines heading to the place you want.

Tokyo Station is a mind-scramble.

Having to change trains more than once really blows...but at least there are trains just about everywhere.

Yeah, it reminds me of an airport lol! I try to avoid changing at Tokyo if possible because it can take ages to walk between platforms (especially if heading to Tokyo Disney lol)

it is less confusing than the london underground - everything is signed pretty well to be honest

Use hyperdia, make a note of what lines/times the trains you need are and you will have no trouble
