Are you looking for a house in the city? I am not well informed on that sort of thing, but an educated guess says that it is much harder to find a house in the city.

Out in the country/forest area, I am sure it is much easier to get a home of your own. So maybe you want to try looking in a less populated town.

Maybe if you took a walk around one day you'd probably find some sort of real estate business (saw that in NANA)

I'm curious of this too. No, I'm not planning on moving there and buying a house, but, I am curious how they sell to foreigners. I know renting is difficult for some foreigners.

They will sell to anyone with the money. But if you need a mortgage or loan, forget it without a Japanese guarantor and a steady, FT job.
