would a person with a GED and a college education get an okay job in japan like a teacher or something?

Just some college education or a 4 year bachelor's degree? You'll pretty much need the latter to get to Japan. If you have that degree, the GED vs regular high school won't matter much, I'd think.

By itself, no, but he went on to get a 4 year degree, which is what they'll look at, not the GED.

I think just about any just high school level education is not enough in this time you just about need a college education in order to get a job.
