The child would hold Japanese citizenship if the father was married to the mother at the time of the birth. I am not familiar with the laws of Korea in regards to passing on citizenship - so the child may or may not also hold Korean citizenship.

In the case of Japanese citizenship though, it`s pretty straightforward. If born in Japan, citizenship is granted at birth, and will not disappear as a result of later events.

If anyone is trying to find me… Tamyuun on Instagram is probably the easiest.

If 2 Koreans came to Japan and had children before 1985, they (including their children) would Zainichi Koreans, correct? Then, if one of those children were to marry a Japanese woman, have a child in 1981, then separate, with the child living with his mother, what citizenship would the child hold?
Japanese or that of a Zainichi Korean?
And could the child become a Japanese citizen through naturalization?
How long would that take?

Also, the child in question's grandparents changed their name to a Japanese one so the child already has a Japanese name.
Why didn't you just say flat out "Hey, does anyone know what Miyavi's real nationality is?". A very kind and knowledgeable member could have waisted his precious time answering your question thoroughly using two whole pages!
