Squat toilets

What do you think of the squat toilets that are common in Japan? Personally, I don`t like them. Firstly, it`s pretty tiring to squat. Secondly, you can`t help but be anxious about whether the whole business is going ahead as planned because there is nothing to protect your legs or trousers from splatter. While the position that this style of toilet forces you into might facilitate waste removal, when you have stomach trouble, having to squat and worry about potential mess just adds to the discomfort (when a western toilet provides relief the moment you sit). That`s just my opinion, hope to hear yours.

The bumper dumper solves this problem. If you don't know what that is, then google it frendo.

A bumper dumper might solve the problem outback but certainly not in Tokyo..

I use them when they`re all that`s available.
But if a western style toilet is there, I use that instead.

Too much information, I`m sure, but it just seems to take a lot longer to finish with everything while using one. And as I`m female, this applies for urination more so as it`s 100% liquid.

If you have the position correct, then you don`t really have to worry about getting anything on anything - if splatter is going your way... Then you`re probably not in the best position.

My husband prefers Japanese style as apparently it is much easier and more relaxing for him...

I just >.< ugh. So unladylike! Apparently it's cleaner and so forth but I really think that'd be entirely uncomfortable and just, no. I'll put uncomfortable on the poll but there really isn't an option saying I feel sick at the very thought xD.

Glastonbury toilets were hard enough to deal with 0_0

South Asian countries use these alot too, I can't stand em, I run towards the western ones LOL. It's just too uncomfortable.

How do you sit on those things?

SSJup81 01-12-2009 02:27 PM

I've never used one, and I hope I never have to. It just doesn't seem like it'd be comfortable, especially for a female in general.

They're cleaner if you (and others) have good aim. But I severely injured my back in Japan and that made using one a living Hell.

Ewwww no squat toilets for me thank you very much. I think that's just gross.
