On that note, how does the whole process work? I mean is there some kind of proof we need to show them that I have relinquesd/reovked my other countires' citizenship? Thanks |

I do believe that they can revoke your Japanese citizenship if you are still holding another country`s citizenship. |

I have dozens of Japanese Canadian friends (in their late 20's and 30's) who have both a Japanese and Canadian passport and they have no problems leaving and entering Japan. Some of them even got caught but they simply received a slap on the wrist before they were able to walk away with both passports. |
Citizenship
Hi all.
Thank you very much for your reply. I was born in Japan and I am a citizen of Japan however,I live in Australia and soon I will become an Australian citizen. I am a good citizen in both countries and not feeling too comfortable sneaking off something but, it sounds like that is as long as I keep quite, I will get away with having dual citizenships, is that right? The Australian government allows multiple citizenships here but hey, its the worlds most redneck country,Japan that is,don't accept dual citizenships. Well, I have one more question, how difficult to regain the citizenship of Japan for a formar Japanese citizen wants to come back and live there again? Cheers, |

Is there some kind of registry that keep track where peope are? I mean let say, I have a dual citizenship of Canadian and Japanese. I left Canada with a Canadian Passport, and entered Japan with a Japanese passport. What will happen? Will there be a record that I left Canada but never entered any country?
