Kumamoto? - 06-04-2009, 03:12 PM

Hello, I have just found out that I am going to be travelling to Kumamoto on Kyushu Island. I was just wondering if anyone may have lived here/ are travelling there soon? Is it a nice area? Prices? etiquette? etc. I would appreciate any sort of information. Cheers

Yes Kumamoto is very nice area, there are many places that would be worth visiting. Kumamoto-Jyo(castle), Suizenji Kouen(park), and Aso-zan(active volcano) with Kusasenri(prairie around Aso-zan).

My X came from it, a small town named Yatsushiro famous for those yummy melons.

The local people are super friendly, very casual and easy going.

I haven't lived their per say, except at my X's parents house, just visitng, of which we would drive from Kyoto and have breaks along the way..

But, it is a nice place.. the girls are rumoured to have VERY strong minds

Cheers - Oz

Visit Kumamoto castle, and the grave of Miyamoto Musashi. Those are generally the two main things Kumamoto is famous for.

I visited Kumamoto castle and Suizenji park. Kumamoto is a great place and the people are pretty friendly too (I can say this about most of Kyushu). I used the trams to get around
