Life experience in Japan

I have never been to Japan but I'm really interested in the country's people, culture, traditions, way of living, etc.
I would like to address the following question not only to the immigrants in Japan but also to those who have visited Japan and have stayed there even for just a few days.
"What has been the most recent memorable/interesting thing you've experienced while living in Japan?"

Wonder how many more threads you are going to create today....

Besides, this one isn't even all that different from another one of your threads:

I'm sorry I was just trying to get as much information as I can. This will be the last one today, I promise. :p

Oh, and I think that this is different from the other thread i created. That was describing Japan. This is about the life experiences. I just want to hear what stories people have to share.

Hitchhiking in Japan was one of the most awesome things i´ve done in the year i´ve been there.
I have never waited longer than 2hours for a ride, people were very friendly and curious (luckily i did speak a bit japanese). They go out of their way to bring you to your destination (its important to say that they can drop you of on their way and that someone will pick up).
Most people think they are the only ones that would pick you up ^^
They will share their drinks or even stop to buy a soda for you.
Even if you say no, some insist to invite you to lunch
.....

Together with the awesome hostel on Rebun-to this was my best experience!

What does it look like to you?
Without knowing what it looks like to you, no one can answer this.

For me living in Japan has mostly been about skiing and the lifestyle around that. Up here in Hokkaido we get some of the heaviest average snowfalls in the world so for me it's like being in heaven. Nothing better than waking up in the morning, digging my way out of the front door, clearing the snow off the car and hitting the slopes. Then skiing some of the deepest, lightest and driest powder you can imagine and finish up with a soak in a local onsen. Maybe follow it up with a feed and a few beers at a nearby izakaya and finish out the day with some karaoke. Doesn't get much better than that!

Umm.. cherry blossoms are pretty abundant for about a two week period once a year at the beginning of April, they tend to be bundled together in parks and along river banks.

umm I think the red bridges you my be referring to are only in around landscaped areas typically with some sort of attraction to see.

and a house with a roof???? umm any house without a roof does not sound like much of a house to me....

Thatched roofs maybe?

And the sakura doesn't come out up this way until around mid May!
