How about going there on a holiday for a while to see if you like it?
And if you are between 18 and 30 you could get a working holiday visa wich will allow you to life and work in Japan for 1 year. In this time you could see if its possbile to find a job in your field.
Also getting any job beside teaching english is not easy in Japan and will require alot of work.

Back home after 1 year work and travel in Japan and 3 month in Korea: www.teglas.asia (text is in German, but see the pictures!)

You are better off coming for a short term to see if you like it here. Generally speaking, it is hard for foreigners to get non-professional employment in Japan. In nearly all cases a university degree is required to get a long-term work visa.

Being a stone mason is not considered a profession in Japan. Also, you will need a fair amount of Japanese language to do construction work. Another interesting thing is that the measurement system used in Japanese construction is a different standard, which takes time to understand.

I have seen foreigners doing construction at different places, but they were all married to Japanese wives, which is an option many people take.
