Help! Popular Job Boards in Japan? - 06-17-2011, 12:53 AM

Hi Everyone!

My name is Cindy and I am new to this forum. I've been reading through some of the threads and everyone seems really friendly and helpful and I was hoping somebody can steer me in the right direction. I am a recruiting coordinator at an IT solutions based company. I have been looking for candidates to hire for our location in Tokyo and I have not had any luck (I've tried Linkedin, Facebook, Craigslist, etc). Does anyone know the most popular job boards in Japan? I have been using Daijobs, but I pretty much maxed out on it. Does anyone know any websites where I can post for free? Or, just in general, what are popular job sites that I can use?

Any help would be much appreciated since I am very limited at this point! And for anyone who is interested in a technical support position in Tokyo, please let me know! I would be more than happy to provide more details!

Thanks again!

-Cindy

posting jobs on gaijin pot is pretty expensive ...

I just used the classifieds, it worked really well.
I had about 30 interviews in a matter of 2 weeks or so.

I am hoping if she is working for an IT solutions company, they have at least a little bit of a budget.

Do foreigners read classifieds?

In the OP she asked for free.

I should have specified classifieds for foreigners, the Kanto and Kansai areas have a dozen or so specifically targeting foreigners.

If the job requires a decent level of Japanese, it wouldn't hurt to throw some ads up in the Japanese ones too, some wives might be looking for their gaijin hubbies.

A lot of foreigners use HelloWork too, that's definitely worth checking out, last I checked it's a free service provided by the federal government.

In the OP she asked for free, "or, just in general, what are popular job sites...?"

And I know about some publications like Kansai Time-Out and Tokyo Time-Out, but wasn't sure if they were still around. I know the classifieds aren't free, though.

Some examples of free classified postings
-> Kansai Flea Market - Online
-> kansaiFREEads: Free Kansai Osaka Kyoto Kobe Area Classified Ads
-> Classifieds | Kansai Scene

I used those 3 and about 6 others when I looked for teachers.
There are dozens more for the Kanto area.

a quick google search for Kanto classifieds seems to work for me

Hello!

Thank you so much for your replies MMM and RealJames. I appreciate all the help! We are definitely on a budget, so I will definitely look into the free classifieds postings. However, it's good to know which job sites are also popular. If I don't get any replies from the classifieds, I will have to consider Gaijinpot. I am actually looking for people who are fluent in Japanese, or possess at least Business Level Japanese.

Again, thank you! You guys have been very informative & helpful.

Craigslist in Tokyo also gets a lot of traffic.
