Would you trusts the results of a hyaku-en pregnancy test?

Actually - it seems that the type of pregnancy test sold at dollar stores in the US is just as accurate as the more expensive types. It isn`t complex technology, so they are quite inexpensive to produce. Brand names and fancy packaging goes a long way.
I believe there was actually a bit of checking done that found the actual TEST bit - the strip inside the test - was made by the same maker for almost all the tests.

Unfortunately, while you can order them for bulk in Japan at about 100yen each, they don`t sell them individually at that price as far as I know.

I don't think you find it in the 100yen shop. But I did find them in local pharmacy, I think it was about 300-1000yen depends on brands and number of items inside the pack.

brands and how early you can test are big factors on the pricing
