Idea: Japan job placement service for students of Japanese - 08-01-2014, 02:30 PM

Hi everyone,

Me and some Japanese friends are looking into setting up a service to help people find temporary jobs in Japan, which don't require a huge amount of Japanese, but help you meet Japanese people, experience the culture, and get a feeling for the "real" Japan.

The idea is you'd get a 6 month or 1 year placement, get paid a normal wage, be able to work with just a working holiday visa (so it is OK if you don't have a degree), etc. etc.

Is anybody interested in something like this?

Living and working in Japan need not be as expensive as you think. The flight ticket is not cheap, but shared houses and other inexpensive living options exist.

Restaurant pay is not that great, usually 1100 yen per hour or so. That wasn't so bad a couple years ago when the exchange rate was 100 yen to the euro, but at the current rate of 140 yen to the euro, it is not so good.

If your goal is to come to Japan to work and save money, you would be better off working and saving in your home country. But if you want to experience living in Japan, then by all means go ahead and do it.
