concierge opportunities in japan - 11-20-2007, 06:36 PM

I've worked in a few hotels as a concierge unfortunately the hotel i work for now doesn't have any sort of international transfer service. I've been wondering if its possible to obtain a job at a hotel in japan while in Mexico with them providing a working visa. or any other kind of job where you work with foreigners translating or just helping them get around

I'm fluent in Spanish English and have 2 years of college JP

You need take a standardized test to measure your Japanese ability to work this sort of job. Anyone hiring you will want to be sure that you can serve the majority of their customers who will be Japanese not just their foreign guests. The acceptable tests for proficiency are the JLPT for general proficiency and the BJT-JETRO for business proficiency.

before you even think about working in Japan, you should pass the level 2 of the JLPT, a lot of companies use it as a requirement for employment. There's no hope of working in Japan unless you can speak Japanese, except if you plan on being an English / Spanish teacher.
