It is a bit tomboyish but girls do use it. I rarely hear the word 'mate' though the boys do use it among themselves sometimes. It is more common for adult men though.

AZN is pronounced by reading the letters separately >> A - Z - N. Teens use it because it roughly sounds like the word Asian. There is also OMG (pronounced as separate letters) which stands for Oh my God!

I don't recall the girls at my school using much slang words. (Personally, I don't use any female slang.) They might playfully tease each other sometimes, for example: Hey sexy! or Go girl! (cheering a female on in a game, usually when the opponent is a guy). Haha, some adults often use 'possum' when referring to their kids. It is very affectionate and possibly embarassing to the growing child.
