Cool Looking to trade Japanese/American craft supplies! - 07-22-2009, 12:06 AM

Hi there,

I am currently saving money to visit Japan in October 2010. Oh so far away.

I like to sew, quilt and stitch patchwork. I especially love traditional Japanese country cotton textiles and sashiko. I know that many Japanese crafters like vintage American fabrics such as calico and feedsacks. I'm hoping to find a pen pal that is interested in craft ideas and supplies.

Let me know what your interests are!

I don't know if you're looking for an American or Japanese pen pal, but I adore felting if that counts as much.

Felt food, that is Ah, I've been reinspired to finish my Midna felt doll.

I suppose I should have clarified!

I am particularly interested in meeting someone living in Japan. I'm hoping that we can trade fabrics/supplies and whatnot. I am really hoping that someone is familiar with naturally indigo dyed sashiko thread. I've been looking for this for quite a while now. I do have one American source but the prices are a little... crazy!

I sew quilts and am getting more into sashiko lately. I will eventually open a shop on Etsy with my goods (I hope!).

I see, I see.

I wish you the best of luck with your find.
And good luck for your future Etsy shop, as well!
