How to find a person in Japan?

Hello, In 1995 (long before internet.....) I met a really nice Japanese during a language school stay in Montreal (Canada). I would like to get in contact with him again, however his address is not valid anymore and I can't find him in the internet. What is the best way to find somebodys address (or even better an email address). Thank you very much. Thomas from Switzerland

It would help to know from where he is. Some towns may have records in 'city hall'.... Other people here may be of more use, but they'll definitely ask this question....
