snail mail? - 08-17-2011, 02:42 AM

how many people love to send mail nowadays? i don't think many.
it's just that i miss the feeling when i receive a mail from a postman..

sing YOUR SONG, bring your soul TO IT
and when you can do it, i KNOW you're better THAN THAT
but when you can't do it, I WILL make YOU better than that!!

well I stil llove snail mail. Really miss the suspense when expecting a very special letter from someone very special.

I used to have penfriends from around the world-- started when I was in the Brownies as a young girl/. We received food parcels from Canada after the war and I had Canadian pen friends.

Also had British Forces Penfriends-- when National service was the norm.

Yes I still like snail mail when its someone special.

also not everyone had a telephone-- so letters were the main way to communicate and keep up to date.

I only send letters or postcards (mostly postcards) to people when I'm on holiday.... Every time I go to Japan, I send one to all those who want to receive a Japanese postcard. Other than that, the postman only brings me grief in the form of bills....

i order stuff online and i love it when it comes. you get a nice package of whatever it is. for me usually snus (tobacco) or some tech stuff.
but letters. hmm..last one i received was from police (as a part of investigation). so not much going on for me there.

I've never really been one to send letters or postcards. Don't think I've written one since the early 90's. I doubt I will ever send a written letter again in my life.

All the orders I place online are shipped to my work address, since I am not home when the P.O. delivers. So, instead of a postal worker, I get my nice packages from the friendly guy in the brown uniform!

Of course the fact that so few snail mail letters are sent nowadays that affects the Postal services.

I believe that here in UK if Junk mail such as flyers etc were not crammed through our letter boxes we would no longer have a postal service. As it is all that lands on our doormat is thrown into the recycling bins. Crazy or what?

It's headed that way here in the States.... The U.S. Postal Service has been operating in the red so many years now, they're debating on whether to cut service from 6 days delivery to 3 days a week. They've closed many post offices and laid off thousands of workers.

I used to have an Australian Penpal. We used to write both emails and mail letters out to each other from time to time. Of course after 3 years of writing to each other we both went on to bigger and better things. I do miss sending mail or packages to her or even just writing to her. Still sending an email does not even compare to mailing letters and sending presents by Mail. I will always love sending and receiving mail to someone across the globe. It may be an outdated "Romantisized Idea" I suppose, but I hope it never gets too old to go out of style permanently.
