Hi ! I'm new here too !
I know of a very good site to get a real pen-pal. (japan-guide.com - Japan Travel and Living Guide)
I found my Japanese pen-pal from this website as well. In order to write to them, you must of course register to be a member. Once you are a member, you can start searching for a penpal. It may take a while though to look for the right pen-pal as there are like millions of them. But it's worth the time, agree?

In Japan-guide, most of the Japanese knows a little bit of english.
Hope this helps?

Good luck minna!
