when you really think about it, a forum is world-wide based. unless two people are willing to meet up in the same state/country, whatevers.. .or if they just happen to live in the same town then it's possible.

in this, "looking for friends" section, i feel that it's pretty pathetic. most of the people who start a thread only want to meet japanese people from japan, or someone that can speak the language. you can google a japanese mail order bride if you're so desperate to meet someone, OR you can go down to your locan japan town or whatever it's called and try making friends.

i laugh and i laugh some more...

Yeah. Most of the I'm looking for friends thread are mostly targeted at the Japanese but anyway this is Japanforum with all things japanese including people so it is not really unusual for people to join just to look for japanese people to improve their japanese.

For me, I do not actually have a friend here so I do not think that asking a person to be your friend really work very well for some people like me but after all I am an anti-social so I don't expect many people to talk to me. Just me answering. Haha.

lol well i met emiluvsjmusic and katchan6 through forums, and last weekend i met them irl, but only for a really short time coz i had to go study >.> stupid final high school years are annoying -___-"
so i guess it does work

im guessing it probably works for non-japanese who are visiting/studying/working/etc in japan and are hoping to find a japanese friend to show them around

i dont see why people use the 'looking for friends' thing. if they go around this forum posting in threads and talking to people about things they're interested in, they can make friends instead of having 20 people reply to them on a 'i wanna make friends' thread >_>
