Who here has an interest in video game making? - 03-02-2008, 05:42 PM

Topic ^^

I'm into game design a lot. I love to create entire concepts. I visualize the game and jot down most of it on paper. I use pencil and paper to draw some rough concept arts of some stuff, and I use Map Editors in games a bit, too. I even use my guitar to make some music ^^

So who else in JF has an interest in that sort of thing? Doesn't matter if you're a programmer, an artist or a writer ^_~

People who like programming love the logic in it, because they tend to think very logically themselves. They also love the problem-solving and the endresult.

With that said, I think programming is masochistic and after having done my share of C++ and GML, I was like... no, I don't want to anymore. Granted, I love to program but learning all the various things you need to learn before you can independanty start programming is what I think is sheer torture.

Using Map Editors like the Warcraft III World Editor and UnrealEd with UnrealScript (haven't tried the two latter though) is fun, though. But yeah, I just love creating all the cool game ideas.

i tried by going to school for this stuff, but i lost interest or didn't feel excited working on games. i learned a little bit of everything but none of the areas made me excited i guess. i wanted to try out game testing but i never got hired anywhere though i did have a few interviews.

I took a class on C++ and it was fun. Next year I'm taking a class on video game programming and design. I'm more of a designer though.

Dips on position of game-tester or guinea pig, lol

Edited: You should check out the tale of storys thread stickied in this part of the forum. Loads of excellent writers and exquisite visuals there. Maybe you could make a game based off of it?
