Ok, like I said in my art gallery thread, I'll try to explain how I draw up some basic anime characters. Some of these steps are ones that I usually use in order to draw some of my own characters. You might find them useful, or develop your own way of doing your anime art. I don't know lol. Anyhoo, let's get started, shall we? Sorry about the photos, being blurry and all. :pinkbow:

Part 1:

1st picture: I start off by drawing a oval shape for the head position and the neck.

2nd picture: I quickly sketch in where I want the eyes and mouth. Keep in mind that the oval shape shouldn't be your final head shape.

3rd picture: Now that I'm satisfied with what I have, I start sketching out the body. Notice that I changed the chin and cheek area. Mold the oval shape till you have a desirable head for your character. As for how I do the shoulders, I use the head and neck for reference points, so that I won't make the shoulders too low or high... or huge like some football player.

4th picture: If you like the size and shape of the head, then you can start sketching in the hair.

5th picture: For the rest of the body, I usually sketch in a nude model, then sketch on the clothing. In this case, a sailor outfit. :D

Part 2...................................

6th picture: I start drawing in where I want the folds on the clothing to be, and finalizing the lines before lining in ink. Explaining how to do folds is very hard. I guess that is something that you just have to practice on until you nail it.

7th picture: Make sure that your are alright with your lines before this step, because now, you do them with a pen. No turning back now lol.

8th picture: This is mine after lines are done in ink. For this one, I couldn't find my ultra-fine line pen, so I had to make do with a pen that I normally use for bolder line making, such as manga panels or larger drawings. It's pretty much crap now, cuz it's running very low on ink.

9th picture: I guess that is it. It's your choice now on how to finish off the drawing. If you want to color it, make it back & white, or just leave as it is, that is up to you. ;) For this one, I decided to shade it in pen.

Well, I guess that concludes my lil crappy lesson. I hope that it'll help out some that are in dire need of assistance. If you guys want to know how I do the face, eyes, or other stuff, like the hands, then I'll do another series to this monstrosity.

Folds in Clothing...

I guess, for the folds in clothing, it all depends on what kind of fabric it is, the movement of the character, the conditions of the person's surroundings, the condition of the clothing. Based on those things, try to really visualize the character's clothing and movement in your head, and when you come up with something solid, sketch it down fast. Work on your general idea until you come up with desirable folds and creases.
