My current 3D WIP (Sakura) - 01-26-2009, 01:11 PM

Hi everyone,

I'm a new member and I hope I would take part in some talks around this forum. Mainly about the japanese, the cultures and so on.

One of my hobbies is CG and as I saw there is a topic where the members can share their creativities. I decided to post my current work I'm working on.
Moreover, it's linked to the japan culture. I have been working on a 3D version of Sakura from Naruto for a while. My aim is not to create a complete copy of the real (2D) one, but to do my own interpretation.
This is a Work In Progress job, it's mean is not finished and I have things to create, modify and so on.
So if you have comments, don't hesitate.

would rely like to see the models without the skins too (I'm interested to bee how it all works )

also, maybe some of the skinmaps? (flat paintings of the skins)

do have any other 3D renders? it doesn't have to be Japan based to be posted here ^^

JoshAussie > Thanks

Gwen_Goth > Thanks, here, the model without shaders. There is no skinmap as you can have for video games. For this model, there are shaders which are the properties of materials (clothes, skin, eyes, etc..) and to describe the properties you have to play with a lot of parameters which can be tune by using maps but also with procedural features (noise, falloff, etc...). In this model, I use mainly procedural textures. But I have a paintings for the scroll and the logo on the clothes but nothing for the skin. For other works of me, see below.

Aniki > I've been working on this model since the beginning of November, but only when I have free time. I have a job and I don't have a lot of time for a fast progress.

Excessum > lol. funny remark In fact, the polycount doesn't matter while my computer doesn't explode and goes to the space.

I think I will need the help from some people around there to find good texts for writings them down to the scroll, and for sure in Japanese because I don't want to write something wrong^^ I will go back with more details about.

So... here, some other works.

That Daimler image is CG? Looks incredibly realistic.

As for the Sakura image, if I didn't know it was a CG pic I'd swear it was a figurine. Great work!

Fortunately, there is one woman in this world who can control me.

Unfortunately for you, she is not here.

You're no amateur, where do you exactly work, if it's not a big secret?

Koir > All stuffs are in 3D!

Aniki > Yes, I'm a amateur. Otherwise, I'm an engineer in mechanics. But I have less and less time for my hobbies. All other works have been done when I was a student.

JoshAussie, yuko81 > Yes, I'm using 3DSMax for the modeling, ZBrush for sculpting and Vray for rendering.
