If by some unknown turn in life I end having a baby girl with a Japanese girl, she will be named Yukari. I love that name.

My wife (Japanese) and I (American) are trying to have a baby now.

Girls names considering:

Mei (same for this one)
Hikari

Boys names:
haven't found any yet, might go with American name...

Names of foreigners are written in Katakana. Soare is ソアレ
Gabi maybe ギャビ or ガビ.depends on how to pronounce.
So,your name is written ギャビ・ソアレ or ガビ・ソアレ in Japanese.

The sun=太陽(taiyou)

The complexity of deciding on names in Japan seems so much greater than that in Western countries. Westerners generally just go with the sound of the name, while in Japan there seem to be so many other things to consider. Can someone tell me what are the important things to consider when choosing a name in Japan?
