Hmmm,

Before a relationship that was a friendship reaches the point of physical love - the relationship has developed into something more than simply platonic feelings of trust and respect.

I'd say I prefer love as I've experienced both issues regarding a friend becoming a lover and losing a friend by becoming a lover.

Then again, in my mind, it's never love if it doesn't last & the definition of what people love can be summed up in the phrases

" I love pokemon "

" I love my girlfriend"

Whereby the language I've used indicates i feel the same way about Pokemon as I do about my girlfriend.

Indicative of the truth or a problem with english having only one word that epitomises so many variations of an emotion?

I love the fact there are 2 ways (that I know of) to say I love you in Japanese

Friendship is a wonderful thing that can't ever be replaced. I have both guys and girls that are my best friends. Love is a LOT more risky, but at times it is SO worth it. But there's one thing I learned from my mom, and that's most of the time it's better to just stay friends with your best friend unless you want to break the friendship apart. I agree with that, because I saw it happen many times before when you date your best friend, and then you break up and never talk to them again. Of course, if you both REALLY love each other it's worth the risk, right? ^_^

Ugh. Here I am. 13, and already a deep philosopher of internet and close relationships. T_T


So anyway, on with the topic question. I personally prefer love to friendship as long as you really love that person. But I can't deny that 9 out of 10, friendship lasts longer. =/

But then again friendship is interesting thing even more than love, because with friends you can talk about everything (especialy if they are opposite sex) and they also have no problem saying you something like that you are smart arrogant bastard, who basically don't need anybody, but is still not lost yet.

so yeah friendships can be senseless, interestingly senseless, but they educate us in some way or maybe even change, which love can't do, because love is about accepting that other one
