Communication is universal; there's no special codex for different types of relationships you have with others. Of course, you're not going to go up to the President with a Pound-It at the ready shouting, "What's up dumbass?!", but you get my point.
I agree with Salvanas in that there's no one right answer.
Just be smart. Communication is an entire body function, not just something you do with your mouth. Granted, for some, it's harder to read certain kinds of communication than others, but that souldn't suggest that communication is simple in it's execution.
