How important LOVE is in Japan

in a lot of japanese movies I ve noticed that there is a specific addiction to fall EXTREMLY in love.
maybe I m not right but for me it looks like they often describe "true love"
with doing EVERTHING for the person they love.
often they want do do, or do suicide if the person they love leave them or something like this.

a good example is the film "dolls" from kitano takeshi.

is my cognition right that love is really, really important in japan?

and married couples there don t get as often divorced as in the west, right?

if yes- why?

Love is important everywhere.. But in Japan I guess they're more serious about it. If you love someone, you love them for life..
(Kinda like my mom and dad=P)

I know that love is important everywhere but for me its seems in japan its a bit more special- I don t know.

do you think japanese men say I love you only to one person in their life and be together with her for the rest of their life if they can??

Perhaps it has more to do with the great amount of respect japanese people seem to have, i idlise this amazing amount of love they have of their own people.
I think love is a serious thing and a thing not to be dismissed or taken advantage of, (if you get what i mean) for example guy goes to girl i love you, just to get them in bed (hate people like that).
