Gay shojo manga?

Okay before any one gets any ideas no im not a lezbo but I was at borders today looking for the new beauty pop and they didnt have it so I looked for the third book in the cain saga didnt have it so then I tried to see if they had the fifth priest didnt have it. So I was looking for some kinda new manga to read and I came across one its called desire about two gay boys but it said it was really popular with girls in japan is this true? Regardless I bought it for some strange reason  I just wanted to know what everyone else thinks about this new manga style? does anyone else read it?

Retrogamer77 12-05-2007 04:24 AM

ER...I wouldn't consider Yaoi to be new. It just so happens that I have read desire. I liked it because it had somewhat of a plot. I, personally, don't see anything wrong with Yaoi or Yuri. I just have no interest in Yuri. Me :rheart: 's some Yaoi though. :p

alexisgc 12-05-2007 05:17 AM

Lol im glad some ones else has read this besides me I just wanted something different. now I feel kinda gay for buying it :o j/k. Most other shojo mangas are the same though just different charters and different story lines but pretty much the same plot

NekoTakkun 12-05-2007 05:21 AM

Im a guy and i read Yaoi its ok nothing wrong whit it.

Loveless is my fave Yaoi Manga.

alexisgc 12-05-2007 05:24 AM

Im not trying to say theres anything wrong with being gay. Cause my dads gay and my sister is a lesbian. But I just didnt know if straight people read it and I just wanted to know what everyone else thought about it.

emiluvsjmusic 12-05-2007 05:30 AM

i read stories about yaoi all the time. it's nothing new.

animelover32 12-05-2007 06:11 PM

Jsut because you read/watch an Yaoi and Yuri series doesn't automatically make you a lesbian or gay. I do and I'm not a lesbian (even though I am bi, but it doesn't mean your bi either). I watch both because I like the storyline usually.

AgnieszkaKonnichiwa 12-05-2007 06:36 PM

Kaminogirl22 12-10-2007 03:40 PM

Love

I love yaoi a lot, don't like yuri too much but I have watch as much yaoi I can find and I wish I had more than one yaoi book.

Kyousuke 12-10-2007 03:55 PM

im a guy who reads Yaoi sometimes. use to think it was weird then i read one. it was really good. kinda gives you a new outlook on gay couples.

DesiredMess 12-10-2007 05:14 PM

Haha, I know...after reading yaoi I started wishing I was a guy just to be gay. :p I'm weird..haha

alexisgc 12-11-2007 05:43 AM

I finally finished reading desire and I want more of the youi mangas I thought some of the stuff was kinda nasty. But I loved the story line and I think im gonna read more of them I was exspeting it to be some kind of stupid romance novel. And I found out I liked it and im glad other people like it too now I dont feel so stupid. And oh yeah some times I wish I was a guy too so I could be gay!

Powermad147 12-11-2007 06:40 AM

You know, Yaoi never really was up my alley (I am straight, just so ya know) but Loveless actually looked pretty good...I just don't want to figure out, once I buy it, that it is nothing but an excuse to have two guys make out. So is it like that, or does it have a good story too??

Loveless is very yaoi-lite, in my opinion. I didn't read the whole series, but I don't remember even any mouth-to-mouth... Loveless was not my favorite series, but I am not into that genre.

If you like the first volume, I am sure you'll like the rest of the series. To me it's Yaoi-lite, which is almost worse than Yaoi in terms of where my tastes run. If you want to be Yaoi, be Yaoi...if not, then don't, but it tries to be both shojo and yaoi at the same time.

alexisgc 12-11-2007 07:38 AM

I know this is kind of a stupid question but why do girls like gay manga? I mean I like the story like better then a romance shojo manga but I dont even know why I read it. It's like how almost every girl loves the song lips of an angel by hinder and the songs about cheating I mean wtf is up with that?

No, it's not like that at all. Sure, I've always wondered why people liked that Hinder song, but that has nothing to do with yaoi manga...or yuri for that matter (which is also awesome).
Girls like yaoi due to hot bishies making out...and seeing normal relationships gets kind of run-of-the-mill. Also, it's a type of forbidden love making it more exciting and angsty. And girls don't like competing with other girls...and you might not think that has anything to do with manga, but somehow that does. :p

criminalpanda 12-11-2007 06:55 PM

me

thats yaoi(shonen-ai) oh and whats the other name for shojo ai?

aphrodite 12-11-2007 06:55 PM

yaoi!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:mtongue:

DesiredMess 12-11-2007 06:56 PM

I forgot wait the other name for it was....hmm.....Was there another name. *hits self on head*

shoujobeat 12-11-2007 07:30 PM

My number one favorite genre of manga is :pompoms:!!!YAOI!!!:pompoms:, For me no other type of manga comes close to a good18+ yaoi with lots of hot guys and plenty of sex:pompoms:.

YAOI is for women made by women, but gay guys and normal guys alike still read it so don't worry alexisgc-san

the other name for shoujo-ai is YURI which is girlxgirl

VisualKei 12-11-2007 08:03 PM

I like yaoi. And I like yuri. And my best friend likes them, too.

Well, we're both bi, but... I know plenty of straight people who like it.
