i dont understand the ending to "the end of evangelion" was the whole world wiped out or was it just japan

The first movie is pretty much the same as the first 6 episodes of the TV series, with bits cut out and some slight changes made.

There's an episode in the TV series where Shinji's body disappears inside the EVA and they have to try and get his physical body back again. The same thing happened to his mum, except they couldn't bring her back. Much of the plot is based on Ikari's desire to be reunited with his wife so I doubt he killed her.

The A.T. Field has been described as 'The barrier of the soul' it's a defence that humans and angels use to keep themselves separated from others. The third impact generates a huge Anti-A.T. field which destroys this barrier and that's why all the individual humans merge.

Its the end of the world. Simply put, Rei and Shinji decide that humans aren't happy at the moment and would only live if they wanted to. Thus everyone bar 2 people die.

I'm a little confused >< ... In the manga Shinji knows that the forth child is his friend Toji but in the anime he doesn't?
There's a differens between Anno Hideaki and Yoshiyuki Sadamoto...

The manga and the anime started out very similar, but by the time you get to Volume 9 the manga changes a lot (Kaworu, the 5th child is very different from the anime version). I don't much care for the changes personally and think it spoils the series. I know they're introducing Kaworu earlier on in the new movies, be interesting to see how he turns out in these.
