The Lucky Star Dub ~ !

So, here it is, the official trailer with dubbed voices:

YouTube - Lucky Star - Official Dub Trailer (02/2008)

Personally, I'm pretty okay with it ~ ! Kagami is the only one that doesn't fit so well... I actually kinda like Konata's voice! What do you guys think?

hentailover92 02-22-2008 01:51 AM

well its okay for dubs though but i hate the way miyuki souds and how they pronounce tsukasa and luckystar T.T i will never watch the dub because as a japanese otaku i have my own principles to follow

I'm so happy it's going to be out in dvd**I can buy it!**but I'm going to be watching it in sub only, cause I already watch the first 3 episodes in sub. thank you for the link phishn37:marsmile:

I don't like the dub if I already heard the japanese, it too werid after:mtongue:

Hmmm. How interesting. I'm glad they said manga the correct way. :D Instead of maaanga.

With anime like this, it's pretty hard finding good voice actors that resemble the characters, but Konata's voice is pretty good. I also liked Tsukasa's, but other than those two the others weren't as enjoyable. And when they said "lucky star" at the end, it didn't have the same affect on me than when I watched the Japanese version.

THe major problem is Konata's voice..
Where does the slumpy attitude of her go..
She should sound lazy and without passion in her voice XXXXD

This trailer did not excite me, Lucky☆Star is one of my favorites. I just can't get my head around the characters in this anime having a different voice. That hasn't bothered me much when other animes have English dubs, but it does here. I want to like it but something felt off. Sorry I can't explain it any better than that.

I hold off on my final opinion until I see a full episode with the dub.

Lucky Star English Dub Is Fail. Odin Has Spoken.

hentailover92 02-23-2008 08:23 PM

I notice the opening song is still the J version as I guess this would be a hard one to dub.
The first time I saw this anime the opening was sooooo cute I had to watch the content, I still dont get what is up with the lucky show but it makes me laugh alot.

I am a firm sub and no dub fan. I really hate most of the english voice parts as they do not carry across most of the original feel.

US anime companies like Bendai doesn't dub the opening song or the ending song. as for which one is better the dub is.... ok but knowing me I'll watch it either way I already preorder vol 1 with the starter box

odonata 02-24-2008 02:42 AM

ooops, I support fansubs and will always look to buy the original in my own time.

hentailover92 02-24-2008 02:47 AM

since im also a supporter of subs ill still buy it but ill just turn it to the sub version

odonata 02-24-2008 02:55 AM

I usually see "Sponsored by" at the beggining of most of these animes. This would indicate that for instance McDon***** has given some money to the company to get their logo on the anime. Therefore if I buy a McBurger I am supporting this anime. (Note: I have alot of Bandai figures and they sponsor anime too). so I guess watching a free fansub is not so free.

uhhh yeah.... that's not what I call supporting an anime that's supporting a fast food chain...... not trying to be a jark or anything but unless you buy the anime on DVD or watch it on tv your not a real fan of the series you say you like besides if you don't like the dub you can always switch it to the Japanese and use the subtitles

Kenta21 02-25-2008 03:40 PM

MANNNN !!! ill have to wait till i get home, this computer has not speakers

hentailover92 02-25-2008 07:44 PM

it sounds soo gayy when they say luckystar

I did sprinkle some irony on this post!

Drend 04-07-2008 05:27 PM

They probably didn't even choose her to be Konata for her talent (Which I've only seen in Haruhi), it was most likely for the joke about them having the same seiyuu (Aya Hirano <3) as Haruhi in the Japanese version.

jollygrunt 04-07-2008 05:49 PM

I really enjoyed the fansub of this series. I can't check the youtube sample of the dub until I get home so I can't really give an opinion on the dub yet.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to purchasing this series. It was one of my favorites from last year. :rheart:

Awful, awful, awful, awful!

x_X What the heck? I don't care so much that they don't sound like the original voices, but they sound like complete beginners in voice acting! At least get some real voices, you know. augh x_o Horrible casting job. And you can't DIRECTLY translate Japanese into English. The phrases they say in English sound so fake. No one would say that kind of stuff in real life. I would rather them go away from what they actually said and think about how a phrase like that would translate into commonly used English. I have always been a dub fan too, so I'm not being biased (at least I hope so).

For example:
Disney's translation
English Mulon: "Stay inside"
Japanese Mulon: "koko ni" (lit. in here)
Probably because the direct translation "Stay here" isn't commonly used. Good job, Disney! Lucky Star totally missed that. And because the comedy has much to do with the way things are said, it's so crucial to translate it in a way that makes sense in English.
