"Raito" is "Light" in phonetic Japanese (anotherwords how a Japanese person would say "Light", since they have no L in their alaphbet.) That being said "L" is "Eru"...another reason besides him needing a disguise he uses the names Ryuga Hideki and Ryuzaki...no Ls to translate in those names...lol. ;) :D

I was sort of rooting for Light in the beginning... but then he became too selfish. If I were to pick a side, I would pick L, because of the set values he respresented.

In the end, though, DN is really an interesting anime because the villain is someone initially intent on doing good. Light isn't necessarily evil -- or isn't he?

Light's side. He was killing criminals that were already condemned. Even though the anime portrayed the government and police as saints, I'm pretty sure IRL our governments would use such a book to kill those who get in their path, also criminals who can't be found and will obviously be condemned to death.

What he was doing was wrong, kinda. But a world without crime can only be a good thing.

Not to mention L was using illegal ways to find Kira... if you call that justice than Light's doings were justice too.

Then again, you must use all that is possible if you hate to lose though.
Both L and Light said they were justice, and so they used their own ways to put a strategy to the test (even if it were 'illegal' ways perhaps).
They both just didn't want to lose.

In the end, I cannot approve Lighto-kun's thought process.
