PiQ Magazine goes out of business.

The last issue
Published on June 14th, 2008 by PiQ

The current issue of PiQ (Issue 4, July 2008) will be our last.

It’s unfortunate that we’ll never get a chance to see how successful PiQ could have been, but a combination of low advertising revenue, poor business management and a lack of proper marketing and promotion all hamstrung the magazine from the start. We, the editorial/creative/production staff, did the best we could to put together a quality publication, but as we’ve discovered, without a good financial backing, it’s all an exercise in futility.

For those readers that were just starting to get behind the magazine, the staff of PiQ gives a hearty “thank you” to all of you for your support. To those of you who subscribed (or were formerly subscribed to NTUSA), more details will be coming soon.

PiQ Magazine • Anime, movies, games, comics, music, TV shows, technology, hobbies and more - Entertainment for the rest of us

Thank God. Piq sucked.

Newtype USA was better.

Agreed
But damn PiQ sure didn't last long

Baubles 06-18-2008 02:16 PM

Because it blew really bad. No one bought it I guess

People don't bash them like that, that's people jobs gone there! And/Or hobbies, that must be really dissapointing for them. It's a shame you can't get anywhere these days without lots of money behind you...

Anyway, I've actually never heard of them but I guess it's a great shame to the fans too!

Come one people... With the exception of Miss Misa (and of course, MMM) you're all being rather ignorant here.

The point is not whether or not PiQ sucked, or whether Newtype was better, the point is that it's another business failing. PiQ was run by ADV, right? Well, where would PiQ be getting the financial backing it needs?

And if a magazine like PiQ can't get the necessary money, then what does that mean for ADV?

And think of all the good anime and such that came from ADV.

MMM is posting this here to show us what's going on in the industry that we, for the most part, know and love, and if it's failing... Then what happens?

I've only read a PiQ once, and I wasn't a huge fan. But at the very least I can see the signifigance in it's downfall.

Think about that before you just type out the first thoughts that come into your head, please.

Altaru, that was my exact reason for posting the news. It seems strange to me to start a magazine without knowing who can go for at least 6 issues (that's a standard, I hear) expecially one so major.
