I am not far enough in to fully grasp their philosophies, but Black is more of Superego to White's Id. Black is more realistic...good question.
Basically it is about two boys, Black and White who live in the sort of slum in the center of the city. The yakuza and drug infested area is like the boys' playground. But then a corporate giant threatens to come in and level the area... |
I watched the DVD last night. It's a REAL TRIP. It's out on blu-ray, too. I recommend a big screen, if possible. There are lots of sweeping shots through the weird city.

I am for giving the Anime a well deserved 10/10 although the storyline can get a bit confused at times like with the alien combat dudes.
The visuals and attention to detail are a joy to watch. The sound track and FX are really well implimented. You will love Shiro and Kuro's adventure in treasure town. This Anime is a must if you enjoyed FLCL style of story. Buy the way UT (Uni-Glow) in Harajuku is doing ltd edition TK tees at the moment. Tekkonkinkreet - Official Site |
I watched the dvd.. to me this anime really rocks.. the way the movie flows kinda bit blurry at the moment but overall it is quite a good masterpiece..

It looks cool. I really want to see it.
|
I own it! :]
The music by Plaid REALLY compliments the already dreamy chaotic atmosphere. Personally, I believe that White is like.. the days of innocence, whereas Black is what reality is. And the Minotaur is what life could be like. |
It is a total trip.
|
Yeah. And I've never exactly seen art style like that in other anime movies. Which makes it even better.
|
Best anime movie I've seen in a long time, other than Paprika ^-^ The other entertaining part was the extras, where the director got told off by a staff member lol. I rented it, but now, I want to buy it later.
|
Ah! Paprika! Duuuude, that was like...an acid trip without the acid... The music by Hirasawa Susumu certainly didn't make it any less trippier..
Sadly, I've yet to see Tokyo Godfathers.. :[ |
