:) That's pretty funny and pretty accurate actually. Foreign students I help always end up saying random expressions that just don't get used anymore. hehe. Though, I must admit, I find it far more amusing than the wine drinker. haha

Modern dictionaries do mention it if the expression defined is old-fashioned, you'll see like "Jeepers (out of date): shout used to express surprise" so that you know it's not something you'll hear out in the streets anymore.

When I first went to England, I was around 13 years old and was living with a host family, a couple in their 50ies, and one night we were having dinner and it was pouring out there, and the man just goes: "Woah it's raining cats and dogs" I was like O_Ô No kidding? Ran up to the window and saw just water x)
