I'd say learn some more cultural sensitivity before going any further on either language, however if you are already on your way in Japanese and came to a Japanese Forum to asks, seems to me your mind was already made up.

If you learn enough Kanji you can take a guess at some simple written Chinese as a bonus prize anyway I find. :mtongue:
