Well... I think I should start with Mandarin, or see the two together to see the differences... but the two seem interesting^^ Maybe I won't be good at Chinese learning, but I'll try. Maybe I'll prefer Cantonese... who knows?

try going to this website: Chinese-Lessons: Free Cantonese lessons, Free Mandarin lessons, Free English lessons you can get both Cantonese & Mandarin sound files.. maybe that would help.

ok, for speaking, i think you should go with Mandarin, after all it's so freaking famous.. like the entire china speak this language.. well, just want to say do your research before you go on and learn a new language. :D

LOL
Yes, I did researches, and I thought that Cantonese was freaking complicated compared to Mandarin, so yes I'll start with Mandarin, and yes, I know that Mandarin is spoken all over China.

Thanks for the advice!

mainly it's because places like HK & Taiwan have been learning Traditional chinese since the very beginning of time.. haha.. at least their great Grand-father knows it.. so it's rather hard to just make a change to switch from Traditional to simplified.. but i heard that if you know Traditional, reading simplified would be easy; no problem. but it doesn't work the other way.. you're from Singapore.. so i guess you learnt simplified?
