Anyone here a webdesigner?

Hey, I was wondering if there were other webdesigners here? Cuz I am one... I don't do free stuff though.

MissMisa 08-17-2008 10:10 PM

I've dabbled in it, I know how to use dreamweaver, and I've got my own website but it's made freely. It was part of my business coursework to learn some but I haven't done much on it since.

How about hand coding? I do PSD to xHTML/CSS conversions from scratch. slice it on Photoshop and then code it by hand, bits by bits.

Bureda 08-17-2008 10:17 PM

I don't know the lingo by heart, but I can dive in a website and learn how it work myself. :D

I personally prefer a CMS, and then work from that.

iPhantom 08-17-2008 10:25 PM

I know the ling... but knowing it all isn't neccesary. The vision of how you build the layout is more important.

Nope, like I said, just dabbled. I'm useless at coding, I just love doing all the layouts and the graphics and such, the coding in behind it is something I find dull so I've never been able to grasp it. It's unfortunate my coding skills and nowhere near as good as my graphics.

I learned about it, html language and all these basic stuff. Wouldn't consider myself as one, ever.

According to my knowledge SeeD is one.

AsianAtHeart 08-17-2008 11:22 PM

*raises hand* I run two websites, myself, actually. But I never do anything for money. I taught myself three types of scripting, but I just use Frontpage to build more advanced pages than I normally can't by scratch.

What's everyone's Websites? :)
Mine is: Act of War

Might as well build a club together, lol.

I do web design. Need to learn PHP soon though.

Henbaka 08-18-2008 12:44 AM

Decent in html/css and dabbled a bit with php&coldfusion (but noob there)

Gackt21 08-18-2008 12:49 AM

I have played around in it. Don't know very much though.

Dainty 08-18-2008 12:52 AM

I am. I have much more to learn, though. I taught all I know by myself. HTML/CSS, a little JavaScript, graphic design, etc.

allie2590 08-18-2008 12:56 AM

I've played around with it, but I know almost nothing about coding.

@ Bureda: All done by yourself??? Wow!

I started to spend some time into webdesign. For the beginning, I will try to create a website about.... tadaaa: Manga! (Oh, surprise, surprise... TT) But that is easier to me when I'm writing articles. HTML went good. Now I'm starting CSS. I hope to get it soon.

ante 08-18-2008 11:35 AM

I was into it a few years ago. Made my designs i Photoshop, coded the xHTML and CSS and som simpler PHP and MySQL stuff. Haven't done anything for quite a while though.

iPhantom 08-18-2008 04:18 PM

My knowledge of xHTML/CSS is pretty good, though I also know Javascript, jQuery, PHP and MySQL as well... I'm no that good on PHP though

AsianAtHeart 08-18-2008 06:13 PM

Most of my HTML and CSS knowledge is pretty basic. The only reason I know CSS is because I used to go crazy with designing my old page on Neopets.

Which reminds me, my old accounts' still sitting there....

Anyway, I've dabbled along the lines of JavaScript, I couldn't get too much, though, so the only thing I really do that JS-related is variables and pop-up windows.

Hand coding means editing in source code. The reason to use hand coding includes the ability to Use features or refinements which is not supported by the graphical editor or compiler.
