Japan's Wimp Factor,Prime minister resigns

Though im not sure how many people here are interested in politics either in their own country or in others i found this very interesting. I was shocked to see Yasuo Fukuda resign so soon he was not even in office for a year. This coming on the heals of Junichiro Koizumi who also did not last year and resigned for apparent health reasons. The article stated that Yasuo Fukuda approval rating was just 29% if you follow American politics you will notice the George W. Bush's approval rating is about the same or slightly lower. Would any native Japanese forum members or any members that reside in Japan care to discuss why the Prime Minster seat of office has suffered set backs over the past couple of years?

I have posted the link to the article below.

This is an update to the article i posted this morning which showcases the differences in Politics from the US other countries and Japan and although i think the writer was kind of harsh it was well written the first line had me laughing.

All politics are full of shit my friend lol. i just find it weird that Japan has had 3 PM in 3 years. A couple of articles i have read have stated that Japan's political system has been in turmoil for years.

Man, what's with all the resignations. The guy before this current one resigned too.

kireikoori 09-02-2008 03:52 PM

I agree, politics everywhere are full of it. That's just the nature of politics.

I'm just interested in Japanese politics because I'm interested in Japanese culture.

That's probably true, but it's bad to assume that every single politician to come around is crooked or something. I'm one of those to not say a person will do bad until he or she actually does so, or either has a history to cause suspicions early on, but, meh, I'm just too idealistic and naive where politics are concerned.

I can honestly say that even though I'm interested in Japanese culture, politics has never been high on my list...even for my home country. Only reason I'm so into the current US election this time around because, for once, it's showing to be very interesting.

Pelosi visits Hiroshima atomic bomb memorial

Ok so even though this is not about the original topic i posted i find this interesting as well. Nancy Pelosi the House Speaker became the Highest Ranking official to visit Hiroshima. I cant believe that she is the first to do but i also find it very warming.

I haven't really been keeping up with foreign politics.
What is Japan going to do now? Who's going to step up?

Not full of sh*t? No one plays politics like the Japanese politicians. They are completely full of sh*t, which is part of the reason no one votes in elections.

Bit of a mistake there buddy. It was Abe Shinzo who previously resigned with the health issues. Koizumi ran the country for something like 5 years.

I don't think Fukuda realized how tough things would be without the LDP being able to do whatever the hell they want while he was in charge. Bit off a little more than he could chew and decided to bail...

I used to know this young girl who seemed to have the biggest crush on Koizumi. The guy is old enough to be her grandfather. I still wonder what happened to her. I knew her on another message board.

Ok so I guess what I meant was that their politics don't have such a potential effect on the rest of the world. Therefore I can take it less seriously or totally ignore it if I have to.
In my opinion, the more that rests on a certain political processes shoulders, the more full of sh*t it will be.

ps. When I use the term "full of sh*t", i'm talking about lies, scandals and propaganda that is made to seduce the public, rather than for a politicians personal gain.
