What is/are Japan's greatest contribution to the world ?
Hey everyone, Japan is a place of wonderful people and things, so I wanted to know, What is it about Japans culture that has you so fascinated?
^_^ |
Vidjamagames. Most definitely.
Um Video games, Manga, Movies(that have been remade and remade lol), Anime, Sony, not to mention a dozen more companies I cant think of right now ahah. They have contributed alot to every place in the world. Not to mention great music and great looking people. I also Love the language.
Studio Ghibli and Miyazaki-sensei definitely make me feel thankful. :pinksong:
But, er, Goro-kun, not so much... :pinkbow: |
Video Games, Electronics or VHS. Let's face it, only a few percent of the world likes Manga, Anime, Japanese Music and Fashion and none of those really made a big impact in the world. While most of the popular Video games and electronics are Japanese made, the VHS tape may be obselete these days but it made a huge impact back then.
Too bad "Hentai & AV" made it onto the list.
You forgot fashion!
Japanese food
Japanese cars Anime & Manga Electronics in general Video Games Martial arts (judo, karate, kendo, aikido...) Japanese Music (Jpop/JRock/Karaoke) Japanese women / men its kinda hard to vote on them all lol but i picked martial arts Aikido <3 |
i picked electronics cuz u wouldnt have video games w/out them! x3
Quality control, like the Toyota Way.
time punctuality..
No hentai votes? Nobody is brave enough? :D
That's kind of an odd list...I mean I should be thankful for the Japanese men and women who come up with all this great technology right? But it looks like it's a different type of gratefulness. I chose electronics. |
I'm impressed no-ones voted for Hentai/AV...why was it even put into the poll in the first place?
For me it's the engineering and various technologies they have contributed.
I personally am grateful for all, So I am not voting ^_^
I like japanese food alot, its not fattening, and also the video games are good. But I am mostly grateful for martial arts, not only because they are entertaining to watch, but are handy in all that self-defense and stuff. I'm taking karate lessons, and although I'm not very good with remembering all the names for those stances and stuff, it makes your reflexes alot faster, too. Which means less bruises from playing soccer and baseball and stuff. Yay!
The food...>>
Thats what I voted for. But like most I am grateful for a lot of what they have done. Except I can care less about their hentai. I remember this interview in Spin magazine with Biz Markie & the Beastie Boys. Biz Markie asks them "Why are you guys so into the Japanese culture?" (I'm paraphrasing this of course) & one of them said "They either have stuff that we don't have anymore or somethiing new that we don't have yet." Makes sense to me. |
Music, men, technology and anime/manga. ^^v
Oh, fashion as well as Gatsby. THANKYOU JAPAN! |
martial arts!!
Hentai, duh.
Kidding. I voted for music. |
Japanese women are awesome! (Sorry non Japanese women, no offense):ywave:
Anime/manga ^^
Anime/Manga...for sure ^^
In my opinion: FOOD! FOOD! FOOD! FOOD!
Japanese food (especially sushi), anime and most importantly L'Arc~en~Ciel :rheart:
Well, I did vote for Hentai, cause it atleast needed a vote.
But deep down, I feel electronics from Japan has shaped the world and set limits higher than any of the other countries who dabble in technology. |
I 2nd Salvana and add motor vehicles and workings to the chart!
Hell yeah! Don't ever forget Kawasaki Ninja and Suzuki GSX-R!

What got me interested in Japan was a guy called Pop Yoshimura a famous bike Tuner. Whose machines i used to watch in my Youth in the late seventies and early eighties. His company still runs today with his son at the Helm.
I chose Electronics in general. If only average Japanese could ditch Microsoft Windows...
Masatoshi Shima - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia One of the founding fathers of today's home computer is a Japanese. TRON Project - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia More advanced and powerful guideline of making a very robust operating system for business and telecommunication. Obviously made in Japan. This is technically better than Microsoft, BSD or Linux. Too bad that most of the advanced first world countries feared this meta-project because it will give Japanese business more advantages and various kinds of profit. SuperH - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia One of the most stable and robust microchip for versatile uses made by Hitachi. |
It's really hard to chose, so I went with electronics... since everyone uses them.
People, martial arts, cultural festivals, food, anime/manga.
:D |
Music.
There's nothing that can replace my Visual Kei and Jrock :rheart: |

again sorta not
Federico Faggin was the originator of the 8080 architecture in early 1972, proposed it to Intel's management and pushed for its implementation. He finally got the permission to develop it six months later. Faggin hired Masatoshi Shima from Japan who did the detailed design under his direction. Stan Mazor contributed a couple of instructions to the instruction.
Sort of left out the important stuff again. Microsoft and BSD ,Linux are not business os's? Have you heard of Unix? How about Sun Micro Systems or Oracle? |
Martial Arts, by far.
