Susan Boyle? Talent and Appearance
 

For those that havelnt heard of Susan Boyle yet, basically she is this Scottish woman who went on BRITAINS (WHOOP WHOOP) got talent and was ridiculed for her appearance before she sung and astounded the judges... to date she has had over 100 million hits on the internet from people all over the world including celebrities.

Basically hers is a story of dont judge a book by its cover and shames a society obsessed with beauty and good looks, this then begs the question - do you think she should stay as she is or should she now go and have a makeover and get all glammed up? and if she does will that not only fly against all that endeared her to the world in the first place ?

Also does japan have a got talent program? and what would be the reaction there to a susan boyle ? --- i dont know what japanese people think about celebrity in japan but we always see pictures of japanese people going mental at the sights of some western celebrities including the likes of david beckham - urgh !

I reckon if Adam Lambert gets a thread, Susan Boyle, from Britains got talent should have one.

I know for many people here, its not your kind of music or how people you listen to normally dress, but a little open minded ness does wonders.

Yes, she's overrated, and Yes she's a spawn of a reality show. But hey, She's got an amazing voice regardless.

I heard from some people that it was staged, but whether it was or not, it's still a great reminder that people's true beauty is inside! :o

When I first heard her I was astounded, she's a very good singer and I don't know why she hasn't done things before (or tried to) to get herself out there.

But it's been in the papers and on the news that they might not let her do the final due to an outburst, they don't want her having a breakdown on live TV.

I feel for her, everyone laughed at her and it's just gone from one extreme to the next, first they were mocking her, and now some people can't get enough of her. If the stories are true about her breakdown, it's no wonder because of how her life has changed so much in such a short time!

Outer or inner beauty... who cares ? She has an awesome voice :rolleyes:

Of course i respect singers. but if they do need to have some looks if they r gonna do mainstream stuff..


Susan can sing. thats why i try not to look at her.

I listen to plenty of musicians where I have no idea what they look like.

i think most people have. she has a really beautiful voice, susan boyle. most people use gimmicks like a nice body or background story and focus on that than the singing.

i'm not saying you have to see them lol.

Susan Boyle fantastic singer. but I would really pass on looking at her. when I saw her preform ):
she's unattractive.

sadly i feel she's only gonna have 15mins and then after Britain's got talent and her first CD comes out she'll just fade away.

not true. james brown was fugly but he got far. if you have the voice you can go far, but if your like the she bang guy, whats his name, then you have no chance at all.

That's how the pop music business directed at shallow people who think looks are as important as talent works.

Fortunately there are enough people in the world who don't follow this way of thinking. If it really were universal imagine how many talented performances would have never been heard.

Wow, that was so amazing, and inspiring.

Her voice is wonderful, not the best, but she has one hell of a pretty voice. It inspired me because she proved to me that I shouldn't judge a book by it's cover. Before she started singing, I was thinking, "she could look more feminine." One girl in the crowd looked as if she was thinking the same thing I was. But when she started singing all of my doubts and negative thoughts about her went away. Her song brought me to tears, it was sung with such passion I couldn't help but feel moved. I don't think that she's necessarily beautiful on the outside but I think that there has to be a lot of inner beauty to sing that well and sound so pure.

Susan Boyle is so full of win.

And now she's in the hospital after having what was probably a mental breakdown.

Exactly people should not judge a book by its cover. I saw the first time she went on stage and I saw people smirking. She has a wonderful voice and her talent could have been discover a long time ago. Well said. ^_^ Inner beauty is what counts more.:)

Maybe the lack of a marketable appearance was what was keeping her from being noticed...who knows. :happypika:

She was amazing! Not as good as the ten year old... but still amazing anyway.
