why? they seem like any other mobsters or gangs just you know they are in japan and maybe america but i don't know that info would have come from gtalol.

I believe I did mention Yakuza Moon, and Confessions of a Yakuza, as great sources for yakuza information and background.
|
I must get those books!!
|
Yakuza Moon isn't actually about the yakuza that much. The writer is the daughter of a yakuza member who is basically ousted at the beginning of the book.

It deals with yanki, I believe? Is that not like the American "gangsta"?

Alright. Well, I guess you were right then, about Yakuza Moon.
But, have you picked up "Confessions..." yet? |

If I felt like parting with it, I may actually think of mailing it to you. Or maybe even a brand spanking new copy as a birthday "thank you" present for the advice about mine and my girlfriend's trip to the Rising Sun.
It's a very enriching book. |

No obligation. :] It's a very great book, and I love reading. So if you're interested, I wouldn't mind splurging a measly $15 USD for ya.

Oh well. :P
I've seen documentaries that actually follow around a yakuza newbie, and their day-to-day lives. Along with interviews with age-old yakuza members. Pretty great stuff. |
I think I know what documentary you're talking about. I have yet to see it, though.
|
It was very educating if you want to learn about a yakuza's day-to-day lifestyle.
And, I hate to throw out educated guesses, but I'm pretty sure that most yakuza are different when it comes to money spending habits, respect, and honor. |

Not all Yakuza members are Japanese.
Hisayuki Machii - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Interestingly enough. |
That's cool. I guess anyone in Asia, not just the Japanese, can become a member of the Yakuza.
|
A American friend of mine (he's huge!) was offered a job as a bodyguard for a boss in Kobe. He politely declined.

so i saw a show on discovery channel that involved the yakuza and it said they still used swords some times and i was just wondering if this was true?
|
Maybe. I mean... How else are they going to cut off a finger at the first sign of disrespect? :P A pocket knife?

LOL. Thats true I bet you would have to leave the country to avoid them. I mean they wouldn't want you to just run off and take their secrets or anything. Plus it would look bad if some punks could just leave their organization.
