What's the reason behind the upgrade? Is it for the Video Capabilities? (Since both the 500D and 5D MKII Have Video) The video will hardly ever get used on mine, It hasn't been used as of yet. Full HD is pretty cool tho. :p

Well actually yes. I'm going back to Tokyo for a few months in December, and I've seen some HD videos of Shibuya crossing taken with the 5D. HD Video really seems to capture the feel of it a lot better than stills in my opinion.

I've got a Canon XTi dSLR that I'm very happy with.

And a Sony DSC - W80 point and shoot that takes great pictures too.

In September I'll be going to Japan with my Canon instead of the Sony. Hopefully I'll get some cool shots to share.

Wow those pictures are amazing!

DSi count as a camera?

I've never really had a camera beside the DSi and a recorder.

i am trying to get the entry level dslr . maybe nikon d60 (about S$900) or canon 450d. i heard olympus use different system called four third. i am not sure how this affect the photography, but olympus e-450 is about 888 singapore dollar mean the cheapest, while canon 450d about S$1000, 500D S$1500 all plus kit lens.

also sony a230 is about S$899.... i am soooo confused now..

che2lg 08-12-2009 12:55 PM

i'm planning to buy my first camera and I'm choosing between sony dsc-w230 and canon ixus 95 is. has anyone tried any of these cameras? i'm not really into photography, i just want something to use when occasion arises.

Tenchu 08-21-2009 02:22 PM

I just bought one of these a couple days ago, actually:

I got it because it can shoot good videos as well as take alright pics (to see my vid work, check my sig).

I wanted to take quality (yet they don't have to be pro) pics of my wife and self to remember the good times, and also have a camera that can make small vids adequate for You Tube.

This little thingy can take good pics at high res, and also make a 15 minute HD vid! Splendid; Muay Thai fights rarely go longer than 15 minutes!

The price of the camera was 10,000 THB (maybe $330 AUD). I recommend it for a quality home use camera.

Here's a pic of some of my junk shot on Polaroid film using my Wista 4x5. At the moment I have a Nikon D70s, a Nikon D300, a Canon F1, a Canon A1, a Canon FTb, a Canon AE1, an Olympus OM4Ti, an Olympus M1, a Nikon FE, a Nikon F3P. I can't recall exactly how many lenses I have, but looking around my room I see around 10 or so, there are more in the closet and in my assorted bags.
