I think keeping your emotions bottled up is fairly normal in work situations around the world. Who tells their boss what they really think about them?

Except in Japan you have Bonenkai (a "forget the year" party around the end of December), which is a time when you CAN tell your boss what you really think, and no one will ever discuss it again. I understand that is changing in recent years....too bad.

I agree. I would like to tell my boss that he's being a pain in the a** at the end of the year. If I was living in Japan or had a job there.

It's not like everyone, or even most people do that, but the "forget the year" party is like Vegas,...what happens there stays there. And chances are if you did say something you were too drunk to remember, and hopefully the boss was too drunk to remember, too.

uh, sounds like a good concept. if i had a worker that hated my guts and i was his boss, i'd make sure to not let him advance any further in his career. his choice for working, people are expendable as to "somebody always wants your job"

I'm just saying that to murder a person is inhumane. We're all living on this planet, so why do it?
