It does sound ridiculous to make one type illegal though it dose seem that more young people smoke flavored cigarrets so it could possibly help to prevent new smokers from picking up the habit.

Exactly. There is no "government conspiracy" there, just what is probably a smart law.

I think the main reason is that the addition of flavors in cigeretts is considered to be targeting kids. Which makes sense to me.
