JF is unique
 

I was thinking the other day, about how much this place sucks and how a lot of people hate it, and I realized how unique, not this place, but the people here are. I don't think you would ever meet people anywhere else like the people here...don't get me wrong, it's not necessarily a good thing (or a bad thing, really). But, where else would you find a kid that openly talks about how he got drunk at a friends house and almost died, and has a bunch of fines now? Or randomly post pictures of yourself in your underwear? Not just that, but think about how different everyone here is...not from everyone else in the world, but from each other. We have guys that wear a bunch of girls clothing, and people that think we're all gay...guys wearing make up, and shaving random parts of their body...and girls that like it......and hate it ofc. The diversity of this place is pretty crazy imo, but maybe it's just me.

I think it is just you. There's a bunch of hyperactive weaboo 14-17 yr olds, and then a couple expats living in Japan (adults), and a few more adults who lived in Japan, are back in their home countries, and have mature, nice things to add to conversations. Then like two or three actual Japanese people.

BWHAHAHAH, oh man. This place is interesting, for sure, but it's in no way unique. Actually, if it stands out for anything, it's that it's member's are kinda polite and well behaved in comparison to other sites.

I can't se a big difference with any other internet forum.

I moderated the Casio G-Shock forum for many years. It was part of the largest watch forum on the internet.

Some crazy and fun stuff wnet on for a long time and A watch ended up being passed through many hands around the world from one user to the next.

Meetings were even held between members in Australia, Singapore, the US, the UK, Hong Kong, Japan and Thailand.

We had announcements of fathers passing away, condolences being posted, all sorts of things.

It was basically a community.

As GT said, this fourm has a VERY wide and varied user structure ranging from kids, teenagers wearing fancy dress to hide bods, and oldies.

one of the things that drew my attention long time ago about this site .. which is a great thing about this forum having such polite well mannered members , which make it UNIQUE .. unlike the other forums

I think it's nice with a thread and founder of a thread who actually sees the good in a forum with such diversity.

I am just new here so I can not really judge about this but from what I read in the threads so far I can say that this is nothing like one of those computer forums, where 14years old Counter Strike Cowboys think they are the greatest Windows Vista hackers and start verbal gunfights in horrible grammar. So Columbine is kinda right here when he sais that our members are polite and well behaved.

And burkhartdesu: I was searching for a Japan forum for a while before I registered here but they were all about J-Rock and Anime. I wanted to talk about Japan, travelling, studying, language, and so on so I decided to register here even though I am from Germany and not a native english speaker. Haven't seen too many J-Rock threads in the "new posts" section so far but you might be right here. For many people Japan just means Music, Manga, Anime.

Crazy people are not just to find in this forum and so are threads that are far away from the Japan topic. That's basically the fuel of a forum. :pandasmile:

Aside from this forum bieng polite and diverse, its a bit easier to interact and feel apart of it than most other forums. When you post something, theres not some dope immediatly flaming you. Also your posts aren't tottaly ignored, and from what ive seen, any negative responses are done quite nicely and there is a plethora of different topics and threads to add your two cents in. so i'd have to agree this forum is a bit Unique compared to most forums out there

Meh, JF is a small community, when a community is small, people get to know eachother. I suppose that me telling you guys when something happens in my life is...unique? Nah, just a topic of discussion. Still, I frequent other forums and none are as close as JF is.

It would be nice to have loads of REAL Japanese from Japan on this forum.

Would be a great way for many to upgrade English and at the same time, a wealth of information from Japan to native speakers who are curious.

The Tenacity of JF is one of the great things I love about this forum ..

JF remained stable for a long period of time .. that's something UNIQUE to be honest .. which is something not all the forums can do ..

and Indeed JF is a small community that can share love and kindness ..
